CHARITY was definitely the buzzword at KBU International College during the Chinese New Year festive period.
Staff and students contributed generously towards an event
organized by the college's Student Services Department.
Named “Calligraphy for charity”, the event aimed to raise funds for the elderly at Rumah Victory, Kuala Lumpur.
The charity drive was spearheaded by Tee Ying Jie, a student at KBU's School of Design, who roped in friends to help out. |
The response to the charity drive was overwhelming, as many visitors asked for
personalized items to be produced.
The event drew much interest and enthusiasm not only among the local staff and students, but also from the international student community.
A mini exhibition was held to create awareness among KBU students about the beauty of Chinese calligraphy.
Sales were brisk as both staff and students chipped in and bought calligraphy couplets. Many also made generous donations.
Rumah
Victory's Loh Chee Onn later received the donation from KBU principal See Hoon Peow. Loh expressed his gratitude that KBU had chosen Rumah Victory as the beneficiary of the charity drive.
